ABOUT DIANE
Hello friends,
My interest and passion towards cultivating a meditation practice began at a time in my life when my stress level was at its highest. I suffered from back pain, insomnia and I generally felt unwell and unhappy. At the time, I did not see the connection between the stressful events in my life and my physical symptoms.
I spent much of my career working at Massachusetts General Hospital as a cardiac research nurse and every day I saw the stress my patients were experiencing as they tried to cope with the lifestyle changes that heart disease often brings. I love teaching and motivating people to learn about their disease and encouraging them to embrace a new lifestyle that would lead to a healthier life. Some people were thirsty to learn, but many people were looking for the latest and greatest procedure or a new medicine to make their problem go away. Few were willing to do the internal reflective work that is necessary to change a lifestyle of bad habits and to become a “partner” in their own health and wellness.
When I had learned how my own healing stemmed from meditation, I was drawn to learn more. I began to read everything I could get my hands on. More and more my personal meditation journey flourished. The more I learned the more I knew that I wanted to share my knowledge. I then began to take classes at the MGH Psychiatry Academy and the Benson-Henry Institute of Mind Body Medicine. I became certified as a (SMART) Stress Management and Resiliency Training and Meditation practitioner.
When I reflect back to that stressful painful time in my life, I am grateful that it had led me to where I am today. Funny how in every moment there is something positive that can surface…if you let it!
